Ok.. Before I start cutting... & after reviewing the Garmin GAP26 (Pitot/AOA Probe) mounting location instructions per the G3X installation manual.. (Page 5-3)
Looks like most of you guys mount standard non AOA pitot's stalks "Behind the main spar" close to the "tie down" point and have no issues..
With the GAP26 Pitot/AOA . If its mounted behind the main spar the probe tip will be at/beyond the Garmin 25% max recommended distance from leading edge..
With the tank off for sealing/ leak testing.... I plan on mounting the pitot stalk " in front" of the main spar.. (adjusting probe angle to be parallel with the chord line)... A location... more typical to what you see on a Cessna.. etc..
Will still be able to remove the GAP26 assembly for any future maintenance.
