RV-6 Manual Trim - Pre-prepunched

I am attaching the manual trim on my VERY slow build (pre-prepunched) RV-6. As such it does not have the reinforcing plate or cover plate on the elevator so the welded nut is RIVITED on to the elevator. This design makes things difficult both in installation and any future maintenance. Has anyone come up with a modification that will allow easier assembly not to mention maintenance in the future ?

Check for two welds on the nut. There is a SB out for it.
