No prime trailing edge under wedge?

Just wondering what the logic is to scuffing the trailing edge under the wedge but then not to prime said area? My guess is the thickness of primer would skew results and the stuffing is for tape adhesion.... Thoughts?

You want the tape, pro seal or whatever to adhere to the metal, not a coat of paint.

Mike is correct

If the adhesive is applied over primer, the bond will only be as good as the primer bond which could vary between very good or very poor depending on the primer used and the prep. application process used.
