Dynon ADSB 472 and mounting antenna

Have a friend with a Dynon D1000 Touch in a 2015 RV-12.

When mounting and installing the 472, and antenna, on a RV-12, what would be the preferred location of the antenna.

This antenna also picks up and sends signals from satellite, if I am not mistaken? Is top of plane or bottom the best location for the dual band antenna? It looks to be a short 1/4 wave antenna.

Any idea what the increase in electrical consumption is in amps with this addition?

ADS-B 472 antenna placement

Vans kit assembly instructions call for placement of antenna on underside of tailcone near the frame aft of aft bulkhead. Power consumption is small as I recall, perhaps 100ma.

The ADSB antenna is mounted on the bottom of the RV-12 fuselage. Below is a link to section 53 which covers the instillation of the ADSB antenna. The info covers instillation of the older 470 unit but the antenna mounting location is the same for the new 472. One difference you will find is the 472 mounting plate is new to accommodate the much smaller footprint of the new 472 unit.
