The RV-1 restoration project is on schedule for debut at Sun-n-Fun 2012. SnF marks the beginning of the RV-1?s summer flying tour that will take it to air shows and EAA Chapters across the US and into Canada. The summer flying tour will culminate at AirVenture where EAA will honor its builder, Richard VanGrunsven, and the aircraft will be received into the EAA Museum.
Without assistance and financial support from the RV community, this historic aircraft may well have been lost forever. But true to form for the RV community and the vendors that support it, the RV-1 project has become a ?community? effort of epic proportion - and by their efforts the VanGrunsven RV-1 will soon take its rightful place in aviation history - and its builder, Richard VanGrunsven, will receive the honors he deserves.
Because this is a ?community? effort, Friends of the RV-1 is providing a rare opportunity to record your name in aviation history ? Your Name recorded in the RV-1 Log Book - there recognizing you or your company as a supporter of the RV-1. A donation of $100 or more in goods, services, or cash to Friends of the RV-1 is all it takes! Cash donations are accepted on the website or by mail. Yes, Friends of the RV-1 is a 501(c)(3) charity.
