RV-10 brake pads

If you have the Cleveland 3059E brakes then that (RA066-11200-4K) is the Rapco part number for the kit with Rivets. O6 01740 is also printed on my Spruce Receipt.

For $31.75 you get 4 linings and the rivets to install them. The last time I bought linings I got them from Desser and paid twice that.

Is this the right part?

OEM new Cleveland pads

Carl,

I have some new Cleveland pads for $18 each. If interested I can email or text you a pic of them.

Depends....

If you have Grove Brakes, the Grove pad part number is 066-105, and the relining kit is 066-105K.

Yes. They were on backorder for awhile, but appear to be in stock now. I received my back order a day or two ago. I like to keep an extra set of pads and O-rings, just in case.

I ended up wearing down my pads significantly since my last conditional and had to change them last week. I'd like to blame the pads, but I suspect I may be the culprit. I'll probably be hyper-sensitive to riding the brakes, which isn't a bad thing.

FYI I'm not sure the Grove pads used on Grove calipers are interchangeable with the Cleveland/RAPCO pads and vice versa. Anybody know?

Thanks for all the feedback. So the options are:

- Cleaveland at $52 for a kit

- Grove at $36 for 4 pads

- Rapco at $32 for a kit

What brand do people like or don't like?Carl

The first set of Rapco's last about two years, with most of the wear occurring this past summer. Like I mention, I can't state if the wear was or wasn't caused by me riding the brakes.

They lasted longer than the original pads from the factory.

Tim Olson did a nice write up a couple years ago.

Great feed - thanks. Looks like Rapco is the pick.

I changed out the first set of pads at the 100 hour point - one brake O ring rolled and the puck was partially stuck. That brake dragged so much it trashed that tire. I used Rapco as replacement. The new owner of the RV-10 had some hard transition hours on the plane, and tended to drag the brakes on taxi and such (even with the rudder pedal extensions). The main gear both developed flat spots from hard landings so this last week I used up the spare set of pads as replacement when I put on new tires. The Rapco I pulled had 300 hours on them and were perhaps 70% worn but shoot fire, if you going to pull the tire might as well do brakes.

I'll stocking a repair parts locker for the new owner (his dime) so that he has a place to start as he learns his new airplane.

Waiting on Van's to recover from the weather long enough to ship me my overdue RV-8 SB fuse/wing/finish kits

What I like about the rapco pads is that they have a small "notch" to make it easy(er) to tell when you are getting down there on lining thickness.
