APRS Telemetry?

Is anyone using the APRS telemetry feature for performance test logging? It would be neat to define a common format for OAT, tach, mag heading and other non-GPS parameters that could really simplify performance testing. Anything could be formatted as ASCII text messages from an external data acquisition system, but I'm thinking that the built-in telemetry of the TT4 might be enough.

There is a topic in the archives somewhere about APRS telemetry. Either Sam Buchanan or Pete Howell tested it couple years ago. I would love to have that ability.
