electrical power consumption

I am curious, if somebody has measured electrical power consumption of his RV-12 (SLSA or EAB) to get an idea of how close the Rotax's internal generator gets to its limit of 20 amps during operation.
Is there some power reserve for more loads beside the standard avionics or is the generator already loaded as its max?

thank you very much for any numbes or experiences.

Chris, technically a ASTM compliant install is only allowed to use 85% of the rated power of an alternator or generator. With the 912 alternator, this means only 16.4A is usable.

From the data we have, and RV-12 with a Dynon SkyView system in it draws about 13.2A when all the lights are on and the autopilot is engaged.

The Dynon Skyview supports "Vertical Power" monitoring (software upgrade) for $275. This would give you an alarmable(sp) total electrics monitoring system. Will be in my bird!!

I am flying with two SV1000's apilot, ligthing and Adsb for two years now.
I have a switched fuel puump. The second sv has no backup battery
All consumers on except the pump the load is below 85% measured.
With the pump it is 95%.
I switch the pump on in take off and landing.
No problems at all
