Weldment to firewall spacer

Hello All,

Drawing 27 Section B-B' shows four 2024-T3 spacers between the 'famous' weldments and the firewall to account for the 1/8" thickness of the 6061-T6 angle. How have people fixed this in place, the drawing implies a rivet through one corner or have you used Proseal?

I Glued Mine

I used 3M ScotchWeld 2216 - but am sure that proseal would have worked too!

25 years and counting on the first set and still there.

The little "+" symbol on the drawing clearly shows a single rivet in that location, with the rivet being offset to the corner of the spacer so that it's shop head does not interfere with the weldment.

I would use the rivet as shown and not a filler/glue in that location.
 
Hi David & Gil,

I have been looking at many photos of RV-4s e.g. in the 'Show us your panel' thread you can usually see the footwells too. Some show evidence of a rivet in the corner of the spacer and some do not so I wondered if they had used a glue instead. Now I have to make a choice.
