FAB to servo gasket - Van's says no

In the course of building the FAB I sent an e-mail to Van's with a couple of questions. One response I got was "You do not want a gasket between the FAB and the servo."
This is for an install with a Precision Silverhawk vertical induction 0-360.
This response surprised me, so I thought I would share it.
For those building a similar configuration, I found that the stock VA-130 mount plate placed the box with too little clearance from the cowl at the left side. A remade plate with the hole for the servo displaced 3/4" to the left works well, but requires a slight relief of the filter rubber to clear two of the plate to servo bolts. If the hole was displaced 1/2" instead I think it would work as well and not require relieving the filter rubber.
Also, the offset mixture arm (pointing up version) interferes with the cowl and will have to be replaced by a straight arm or one with less offset or length.

Hmmm, I did the same thing (carb not FI). I made a new mounting plate to move the FAB away from the cowl, but I kept the filter outside the bolts. I also made a gasket to go between the carb and mounting plate, no gasket between mounting plate and FAB. Perhaps I should check too!
