Question on scratches

flyenforfun

Well Known Member
We have finally moved our plane to a hangar yesterday! But now our plane is in plain view of everyone, and I want to try to reduce some of the scuffs and scratches that have resulted from multiple years in a single car garage. Can anyone recommend the best way to remove some scratches and polish up the aluminum? I dont need a mirror finish, just something to hold me over until we get painted.

Nuvite and a rotary buffer?

Thanks for the help

scratches

Once my 7a was flying, I polished it with the Nuvite/ rotary etc. It is very time consuming and hard work but I love the finished look. Cannot afford to paint it anyway! You can get out some pretty deep scratches with polishing. However, I would not do it until you are finished ( spend the time getting her airworthy) and if you plan on painting her fairly soon, don't do it at all. Once you start polishing you have to do the whole aircraft...at least 60 hours work.
