Pneumatic squeezer help needed

Hi all - I got a Chicago cp-214 pneumatic squeezer off ebay and have a few questions. I've looked everywhere for any data about and found almost nothing. I did find a user manual but it doesn't really cover hardly anything

Here is the model data.

There is a very small "oil here" right in the middle of the tool, and it seems strange. It looks like it goes clear through the tool

What does this do? This knurled knob is kinda like a micro countersink looking thing, what does it do?

Those photos worked.

I have an older cp-214 and it doesn't have that knurled knob. Mine looks like the diagram in the pdf you linked. That knob may be for an adjustable rate? So you can slow down the squeeze rate? I don't know why you'd want that though. It's pretty well controllable through the trigger.

The oil hole is part 79 on page 7. I have no clue why you'd oil it. When I bought mine I did a bit of research and the general consensus is you don't bother with oil with the older style and you oil the newer style (via the air port). It all depends on whether you have a leather cup seal or not.

It looks like yours has an adjustable set on it. Nice.

As for operation, it's pretty straight forward. I've only done the sample kit and the toolbox but I found I liked to slowly bring it up to the rivet then send it home. The rivet smokes a bit, which is neat. When dimpling it only seemed to matter that I had the pilot in the hole.

There are charts out there that will give you squeeze distance for the various rivet size and lengths to use as a starting point to get a proper squeeze.
