Keep it private

Look at the laws around a private/not open to the public airport (in Texas). No one can land without prior permission. if you don't actually tell a pilot he can land, he cannot complain when the grass is too tall etc....or if he hits a huge ant mound and rips his gear off...or hits a cow...

So be careful who you invite to land there.

But if you have an event that is open to the public, you might want to insure that particular timeframe.

BTW you can spread the common bermuda seed now so it will come up in the spring about the time the rye decides to give up. I would recommend non-hulled seed (still has the hull on it) for seeding in the fall. MSMA will keep the blue stem and dallis grass at bay, or better yet, Grazon.

We have a liability police for my parent's grass strip. I want to say it's around $1100 a year. To be honest, though, I told Mom to look into cancelling it as Wisconsin recently added airports to it's recreational use statute.
