from Catto to Hartzell CS?

Hello all.
My RV7-A has a Mattituck IO-360, and a Catto 2 blade which is mounted on a 4" extension (I have the Sam James long cowl).
If I want to switch to a Hartzell CS without redoing (shortening) the cowl, what are my options?
How long is a Hartzell "extended hub"?
Thanks to anyone who can help with info.

Saber has an extension for C/S prop.. of course, it'd be a shorter extension (depending on how you have it set up, it'd be either 2.25" extension or in my case it's a 1.75" length).. Prefer that over extended hub prop.. which is more expensive and locks you into that configuration...

MT Electric?

Probably not what you want but the MT Electric is a "made to order" prop. I looked into one at OSH. I have the older Van's long cowl with a Saber extension. All I needed to give the MT folks were a few measurements and they would make the Electric CS to fit.

I would call or email Hartzell. You may research all of their props:

They make a "James Cowl" prop. Also, I think that they discourage acro with this prop.

Having been down this path here is the answer. The extended or m hub prop is exactly 2 and 5/8ths longer than a c hub. So if you have a cowl already setup for the exact distance then you will need an extention of the above dimension. I personally have a 2.25" ext that I setup with a sj cowl

Geo---

I am going through the same thing.
I called Hartzell and they DO NOT recommend the extension
on the C hub.
I ordered the M hub from Vans and it is 8250 or pretty close.

I hope this helps.

HC.M2YR.BF7497 Prop

i have recently purchased the above prop..can anyone give me some advice re using this with the standard ie short Vans cowl..it of course has the extended hub....my advice so far is to lengthen the cowl.....has anyone been down this road .....many tks ...stanman RV8....
