I have the newer grey primer fiberglass tail (empennage) fairing on my RV-14 and looking for tips and tricks cutting the excess from the scribed line (what tool works best) and fitting techniques. Any help appreciated. This is a highly visible piece and I want to get it right.

I used a cutoff wheel in a die grinder, or my large dremel to rough cut. Then I sanded down to the line, or where I figured it needed to be with my hand-held belt sander with an 80 grit belt. Be careful, it goes fast. Use a mask and goggles, and go outside to do it - its dusty. You will get it close to where you want in just a few minutes, then slowly close in on the fit you?re looking for by hand with sanding blocks. Take your time and go slowly, and don?t worry..... any mistake you make can be fixed with epoxy/cloth/flox.
