Chip in fiberglass strut fairing

I noticed this today when pre-flighting my RV6.

Is this any big deal?

You can see the metal of the strut through the chipped area.

It's turned a very gangrenous green colour, can't be well at all !

No, it is normal chattering of the fairing, you will need to remove, grind it off, rebuild it with some epoxy/glass and re finish.

Not a bad job, you may be able to secure it better on re fitting, but they all chatter there.

Looks like its the mounting tab thats broken off... Usual mounting is a hose clamp around that tab to hold the gear leg fairing in place. I am actually working on that tab on my machine at the moment!
