RV6 ok to run up with just bottom cowling?

Hey All,

I have someone coming to do a dynamic balance on my prop. Is it OK to do a run up with just the lower cowling attached? My cowling uses piano hinges...

Run up

That?s normally how a dynamic prop balance is done around here. Probably not a bad idea to temporarily safety wire the bottom cowling to something solid on the engine.

double ck your wire connections before putting cowl back on,as there flopping around pretty good during runup

Thx again...all went well. Started out at .23 IPS and got it down to .02 IPS. Much smoother now
