Longerons - not a serious problem but?

Plans show to get the vertex of the longeron flush with the roll bar support. No way I could do this without taking a vey small crescent filing out the longeron to clear the nutplate on the roll bar support. Am I alone on this?

Hi Jim,
I did the longerons about a month ago. I did NOT have the issue you describe.

It's been a few years since I did that step, but I don't remember having a problem.

Had lots of problems but not that one

I'd be VERY cautions about making any cuts in the primary longitudinal load-carrying piece of my airframe. I'll admit I'm an aero guy and not a structures one but there are several more knowledgeable here on the forum and I'd be interested in their opinion.

To paraphrase an earlier post of mine:

Double-check all of your work on the longerons so far. I found this RV-12 adage to be substantially true: If it doesn't seem to fit properly, you likely did something wrong.[/I

I went through several longerons to get mine right...definitely a first timer for that. Thankfully I finally got the longeron dies and that helped make life easier. http://www.bullerent.com/longerondies.htm
