There is an airstrip deep in the woods by Delaware River. To the airstrip is attached a massive estate of historical significance. The road to that place is long and dangerous. Estate is well guarded by invisible security and regular mortals just can't go there. Unless they have an RV...

Part I. Tower of Keith

I met the owner of NJ25 at MidAtlantic RV gathering. Secured permission to land and was waiting for right Monday to come.








The Monday came, weather gods were sleeping and I launched toward Peaslees Airfield. I am not super articulate on the radio so I hired a professional negotiator to help with airspace penetration. Here he goes pathfinding.





Here he escorts me. Notice red peppers on the field. Red peppers are always a good sign.






The grass on Peaslees field is in excellent shape. 7 out of 10. There are big XX on both sides of the strip but they will disappear soon.

RVs are parked. What is that? A tower?






 
It is a tower. The structure was built some 70 years ago and still going strong.









No wonder it stood so strong from last century. Take a look what is holding it. A stone from The Great Wall of China!





An idea immediately crossed my mind. The other three walls need to be decorated the same fashion. With a brick from Kremlin Wall, a stone from Weeping Wall and a Coliseum rock. Let's do it. One wall every century!


The Tower is in need of internal renovation. We have to gather a group of RV volunteers to help. There was the whole piece of glass on that hangar - tells Keith - when I tried to lift it it broke.



 
I went inside. Cool bulletin board. All paperwork is in order.





I climbed three stories high. Wow it's high I am scared of hights. When I fly my RV I seat only one foot from the floor. Here it's more like forty feet something...

After tower inspection we were introduced to the estate.

The Barn.





It's not your typical barn it's a party barn. Here is a teaser what's inside.














There is a story about a teenage party in this very barn years ago :D


Here comes the main house. The restoration project is performed by two young gentlemen who use special techniques and tools. I forgot it's either methods of the marines or archaeologists the tools are toothbrushes and exacto knives. After completion of this wall they would get RV6 for whole week and can go anywhere they want in it. No kidding here one of Keith's son has some quality time in his dad's RV.

Legend has it that the first tomato eaten in America was right here in New Jersey. On September 26, 1820.

Here we are repeating the process on August 5, 2013 :D






And some tasty red meat is almost ready.





Food was plenty and food was good. They say the best cooks are Russians but I vote for our great Mideast chef.


Great discussion was conversed between all ages at that table. Guess what was the topic? You are right, about them too :D


Time for a little entertainment.







A centennial pine used for rock climbing also has a zip line attached to it. Heavy cousin was hoisted atop and chained to a cable.





Here he is released and zooming down with the speed of sound.







Yours truly made only two feet just for picture.







There was a tour of the house with myriads of rooms and trap doors. And the library. And the hangar and something secret under tarp in the garage... but it's for another tale. Monday twilight was an hour away we had to go...






Thank you Keith for great adventure! Your unique towered grass strip is in my collection. It's one of a kind!
 
Certainly an interesting field with tons of history! Thanks again Keith for the delicious meal. I have to thank your entire family for the excellent hospitality also. 7 kids on the field! :eek: 5 boys and 2 girls. I get tired just thinking about it. :D
 
That is so cool! It's amazing what is out there to be discovered. Vlad, you are just the man to do it and report back here to the mothership on what you find! Thanks for sharing!

That's was a great adventure Vlad. Looks like Tony had a good time also. Keep the good work motivating those building. It's working :)

Perhaps a mock corn silo near the farmhouse that is tall enough to see over the trees :)

NJ25 appears to have better food than 53VG ... I'm going to have to up my game.

It was great having the cousins visit. I'm sure we will add some more tales next time!
Somehow the twins did not understand the arangement with the painting: They took the RV and headed out on their rock climbing trip without getting very much more done. - Kids !!!!
Two days ago they check-in from Vermont, but I think they are on their way out west now.
 
Keith - if you ever get your plane back, I invite you down to 53VG. It doesn't have a tower but the airspace is easier :cool:

Also, if you decide to install APRS, I'm happy to help.
 
I have the old style tracker; the one with the slow refresh rate... It's called my credit card. In a month's time I will get a detailed report of everywhere they have been. :)
 
That would be fine with me, except I have seen his plane and he can't paint any better than the ones I already have.:D

Food was enough to feed a platoon of spetsnaz. Keith has quite a family all of athletic bunch. It was Monday night btw :D
