Default LSA gross increase and pro builds

AOPA broke the news that the FAA is looking to increase the gross weight limit of LSA aircraft to 3,600 pounds. There's another thread about that but also, more RV centric, is that AOPA expects that the FAA will allow professional builders to construct EAB aircraft.

That's what happens when I give a thread an odd name. No big deal.

Default LSA gross increase and pro builds

So does this mean my wife can fly the RV7 with just a Sport Pilot license?

And perhaps a tail wheel endorsement?

Any idea when this LSA gross weight increase starts?

Don't forget, gross weight is not the only requirement for Sport-Pilots.
Top speed and clean stall speed come to mind.

Nothing will "start" until the rules go through an NPRM procedure.

I gather there will be changes in the NPRM other than the gross weight... but we won't know until January, I guess. And given that we're talking about the FAA, I guess we don't really know which January it will really be, either.

Default 3600

How many kilos were quoted in article? 3600 pounds seems unlikely.
