Initial elevator attachment issue

Ok guys, im hanging the elevators for the 1st time on my 14. The rod end bearings are set to the correct depth but this causes the leading edge pop rivets to rub against the hinge brackets. I have to back out the rod ends 1.5 turns to prevent this. Should I either leave them backed out or try to flatten down the leading edge?

Hi Rob,
Do you know with one and half turned backed out, does your bearing still go pass the end of the nut plate. I know it can not be seen but perhaps you can test it with another nut plate and count the number of threads. Of course this has no way of getting unscrewed and of no concern but you want to make sure there is no play in the bearing shaft and not too long of an arm but I think one and half turn should be OK.
