Garmin G3 / Autopilot question

I am building an RV-14A. It will have a G3 Touch + Garmin autopilot. On my previous airplane (RV-10) with a Trutrak autopilot when I was flying an approach on the autopilot, it would do call outs like ?glideslope active? or ?glideslope alive?. Does the G3 /Garmin autopilot do this?

I have a G3X with a 3-axis AP. I activate APR as I'm turning inbound for the IF. There is an audible alert for TOD (Might just say "altitude"), visual queues on the G3X and all that.

The autopilot annunciator resides at the top of the PFD. There are 3 distinct components to the annunciator. The right hand section displays AP in green if the autopilot is engaged, the middle section displays the Flight Director's lateral mode, and the right hand section displays the Flight Director's vertical mode. When the autopilot is engaged, AP and the vertical and lateral mode selections will appear in green. If there is a flight director mode that is armed, such as when you arm the autopilot for approach, it will appear in white next to the active mode.

As an example, the annunciator below indicates the autopilot is engaged, the Flight Director is tracking the localizer laterally and holding altitude vertically. To the right of ALT, you see GS in white. As you approach the glideslope, the VDI will move towards the center of the gauge. When the VDI is centered, the green ALT will disappear, and GS will turn green, indicating you are actively tracking the glideslope vertically.

The same concept will apply to an RNAV approach. Rather than seeing the GS indication, you will see GP, representing the RNAV Glidepath.

I did a study at Boeing some years back that included audio callouts. I also flew the Honeywell RAAS system, which was all audio callouts, as part of that work.

The short answer is that audio often can be distracting -- there are multiple ASRS reports documenting this -- and if the callout become too regular, it will eventually get ignored.
