Ipad cockpit audio

Does anyone know if there is a cable/cord for the Ipad that can plug into headphone jacks to capture cockpit audio while video recording?
 
Won't record audio?

On the AS page it says this cable won't record audio. I don't understand. Why would you plug it into your Ipad if not to record? I'm guessing there's a point, I would like to know what it is.
 
The one i’m looking at says it does. Are you looking at 11-10531?
