Painting Canopy Assembly: When?

Stockmanreef

Well Known Member
I am at the point where I need to figure out when to paint the canopy frame assembly: before or after putting on the wind screen.

I am thinking before because I would like to wire the canopy before putting on the wind screen, but that would mean that I would have to paint before wiring.

What are others doing?

Thanks

I believe it would be tough to paint the canopy frame once the window(s) is on.

There are two things to consider painting: 1) the frame and 2) the C-01418 Canopy Skin. It seems most paint frame the same as they paint the exterior (in my case, I did the same as the interior) and most paint the top of the skin black to reduce glare.

In my case, I painted the the C-01405 Aft Canopy Frame and the frame proper prior to riveting it together.

I painted the top of the skin separately.

There were no issues fitting the rear window with everything painted.

...or the main canopy window.
