Does my over torque mistake warrent replacing?

RidiculousM

Well Known Member
I over Torqued a AN6 nut to 30 foot pounds as opposed to the required range of 13.3 - 15.8. After realizing my mistake I took nut off, looked at the threads on nut and bolt and they appeared normal. So did I screw them up or prob be ok?

Thanks

Mike

Throw them away. They have been overstressed.

REPLACE THE BOLT AND NUT!!!!!!!

Don't forget to adjust the torque values to account for the nut's friction (e.g., fiber-locks, all-metal locks, etc.).
