Default FLAP HANDLE RELEASE BUTTON....

....The spring seems too tense, it takes two hands to push the button to raise and lower the flaps. I've lubricated the mechanism, not much help.

This is an early kit, has the spring perhaps been replaced with something with less tension?

Airplane coming together, brakes serviced yesterday, no bubbles in any line and pedals are solid. Floor panel installed to facilitate setting elevator cable tension, a mechanic is doing that for me.

Closing in on first engine start.

While you have the flap handle apart, modify the button or replace it with Van's new button if it has not already been done. Read this thread:

Instead of modifying the original spring, I replaced it with a weaker one.

Thanks for the quick response guys, I will get the thing fixed one way or another. I was thinking no-flap operation with it as is.
I believe the latest RV-12 kits have electric flaps...that would be nice.
