RV-12 Range

When two RV-12s flew together to OSH and back in 2017, the ULS airplane used 60 gal. for the trip and the iS airplane used 45 gal.

Van?s shows the range (with no reserve) of the RV-12 as follows:

Range (5500 rpm @ 7500 ft)
RV-12 iS Sport: 581 sm (ECO Mode)
RV-12 912 ULS: 555 sm

Range (5000 rpm @ 7500 ft)
RV-12 iS Sport: 660 sm (ECO Mode)
RV-12 ULS: 614 sm

If fuel burn in the ULS is about 25% more than the iS, shouldn?t the difference in range between the two engines be greater than approximately 9.5% shown here? Perhaps the iS burns a lot more fuel in climb and in the pattern than the ULS?

Thanks,
