Aileron Spars...

Hi All,

Are the holes on the top and bottom of the aileron spar (A-403PP) countersunk or dimpled?

Also, for the aileron counterweight, do I need to prime the inside of the tube? If so, how did you do it? I'm assuming I mix up some primer and pour it in and spin the pipe to coat it?

Thanks!

Ah nevermind-got my answer by searching builder's logs! Much better info than the Vans manual anyway...

Bruce needs to get back to work...

Bruce you need to speed up, man! I'm on hiatus at the moment, but I'll be starting again and I'll need you to be updating your blog. :)

Dimples!

Hi Mark,

I just did this op on my ailerons .. dimples work great for both the top and bottom.

Just be careful "massaging" the spar back into shape. After dimpling they tend to have a pretty good curve to them. You can gently straighten them back out using the end of your work bench, but it's really easy to push just a little too hard and bend a spar. You needn't ask how I know this, you already guessed.
