The weatherstrip that you can get locally is just as good as any. About it not being sticky enough. Here is a solution I have used with success. Buy some 3M weatherstrip adhesive and apply it according to the directions. The 3M stuff is usually yellow in color and get applied on both surfaces then sets for a time period and then you put it together. Hope this helps and good luck.

canopy seal
I ordered a piece of silicone p seal with 7/8 bulb from air craft spruce #05-02144 and used contact cement to glue it in the recess of the fiberglass fairing and roll bar to seal the canopy. Seems to work well for me. Had to cut off the little flange on the bulb and adds enough tension to hold canopy closed with it latched.
