Placement of contactors (dual batt/dual alt)

I'm starting to lay things out with tape on the firewall and I've gotten to battery/alternator placement.

I haven't found many examples of dual battery installations on taildraggers (it's important due to engine mount geometry) but there was a good handful of pictures posted here:

It looks like fairly standard battery boxes and a neat contactor installation, but I'm not sure I like having the contactors down low and off to the side--there's a long run to one of them from the RH battery.

Does anyone see an issue if the contactors were instead mounted high and center (right above the recess and above the bend in the firewall)? This would allow shorter runs between the contactors (two mains and a crossfeed). My oil filter adapter is a right angle type, and though it looks like things might get close with the aux alternator, I could offset the contactors to one side or another.
