Firewall Attachments/weldments

I would like to know about the current state of the firewall longeron attach weldments, are the current ones adequate as is without modification or reinforcements, What year or Rev is the most current drawing. The drawings I have show them made from .080 4130. Hoping someone could shed some light on it for me. Thx Robin

Drawing 34 (upper left corner). Revision 3, dated 2/94 shows "beefed up" WD-402 and -403 weldments. .063 4130 for plates on -403's with .125 angle and reinforcements. .050 for 402's with .071 angle and .125 reinforcement. My plans show last revision to DWG 34 on 1/96, however they are a few years old. Recommend you check with tech support to confirm DWG 34 currency.

You might also consider looking at the additional gusset used in the RV-8. A search will bring up some pictures.
