So it's finally staring to feel real. I've been wanting to build an RV since 2011 and I've actually taken the steps to begin. I'm currently setting up my shop in the garage and my Cleaveland tool set will arrive Wednesday!
I went down to Eugene a few weeks back and took the fundamentals class with Synergy Air. I learned a lot from the class and left feeling like this was something I could actually do. We built this thing:
In the last two weeks I've purchased my air compressor, and retractable hose, added a top to my tool box, built a new shelf (that the EAA tool bench I'll start tomorrow will slide under), got a bench grinder and stand and purchased a bunch of random tools with an ungodly amount of trips to Home Depot.
After the Cleaveland set arrives, I acquire a band saw and the EAA work bench is done I will be building another practice kit (in my own shop this time) and the tool box I bought on a drive down to Van's last week. Then I'll be starting the empennage hopefully by the end of the month.
A little about me: I'm an airline pilot, currently driving the Airbus A320 series. I was lucky to have the keys to a Rv-9A back in from flight instructing days and fell in love with the plane. I've been dying to build one since and am really looking forward to this adventure. The build will be happening in my two car garage just outside of Portland, OR.
