RV-14A Exhaust system installation question

I am about to mount the nosegear and put the fuselage/empennage assembly on the wheels.

I have read on other threads that the "Y" shaped exhaust component cannot be installed without taking weight off the nosewheel to get access.

My question is this: Would it make sense to position that piece before installing nose gear and somehow tape it into position?

Yep, you can do that. It's not that big of a deal to weigh down the tail and pull the weight off the front after the fact. Either way, but pre-installing will save you some time.
