Default Weigh-In Day

(In boxing match announcer voice) Aaaaaaaand in the silver corner, coming in fully loaded with full Classic Aero interior, every conceivable Garmin G3X Touch gizmo, an IO-320 with EFII injection/ignition, and a 3-blade Catto prop... Weighing a stout 1088.4 lbs, RV-9A 112SB...

Right about where I thought it'd be, all said and done. The interior isn't actually installed, same with the wheel pants and fairings. But everything was tossed in where it would end up being. I freaked out for a moment when the right wheel was about 15 lbs heavier than the left wheel. Then I remembered that's the wing that has the roll servo, my NAV antenna in the tip, the Bus Manager and VPX under the panel, and the ELT, transponder, and ADSB behind the baggage bulkhead.

Yes, I know the math doesn't /exactly/ add up, off by <1 lb depending on whether you breathed on the scales or not.

Scott, I will be doing my weigh in this week. Since we have almost the same stuff but mine is painted, it will be interesting to see how they size up to each other. How is your Cg with the Catto up front?

My first weigh in the left wing was about 40 pounds heaver. I about crapped until I remembered it still had fuel in it from the calibration.

Ugh, youíre asking a software engineer to do math???

Just ran the figures on the worksheet. Empty CG is 78.15Ē aft of the datum. Plenty of breathing room.

we are close on weight, mine 5 yrs ago, no paint, total 1082 lb. I'm waiting for my 24lb concord battery to die and then switching to something lighter.

Sounds about right on the weight - mine came in at 1110 with the IO360, constant speed, backup alternator, plus extended range tanks. I've got the full Classic Aero interior as well and just about every Dynon/Garmin gizmo I can fit in the panel.

I see you've got the Anti-Splat brace on the nosewheel, good plan, I have that also.

I'll be weighing soon too, in 2 or 3 weeks I figure. It's quite strange being at this stage where every time I look at my list of things to do it gets shorter rather than longer. Mine is painted, but my interior is pretty lightweight. I probably have a little less avionics weight, I have a composite constant speed prop and just a standard ignition IO-320. I hope my weight comes in similar to yours.

I noticed you didn't include the main gear leg fairings (maybe you did, I didn't see them). Just curious, did you add/account for the engine oil, brake fluid and unusable fuel?

Main gear and intersection fairings were laying on top on the wing root, next to the wheel pants. And the Manual Section 14 instructions for W/B have you weigh with engine oil, brake oil, unusable fuel, etc - the empty operable weight.

Iím surprised you didnít have to de-air the nosewheel or shim the mains to get level. Does the 9 sit level naturally? The 6A needed a lot of wood under the main gear scales.
