Old style wheel fairings dragging

I have recently installed the original wheel pants (older one-piece style) on my RV6 as originally configured by the builder. Alignment and fit-up appear fine, but with all the fasteners installed, it seems the wheel faring (U-605 on sheet 45 of the 1992 era plans) is being deflected outboard such that it (just) contacts the (Cleveland in this case) brake disc. As far as I can tell all parts are installed with close fidelity to the plans, including the various dimensions given. The plane rolls and tracks fine, but over time I?m sure the steel disc will wear thru the 0.063 Aluminium Mounting plate.

1. Have others seen this issue and found a simple fix ? (Note: cutting fiberglass and re-painting don?t constitute simple to me ...
2. I see only about 3/16? of clearance between U-605 and the brake disc with the wheel pant off. Should there be more space there? What might be wrong if so?

Any pointers appreciated!
Peter
