Engine Shims from aluminum?

Loman

Well Known Member
I needed to shim my engine up to match the cowl. Experimenting with what I had on hand, I found that 063 aluminum gave the perfect result for my amount of sag.

Can I go ahead and make permanent shim washers from the same material or do I have to go out and find (stainless) steel of the same thickness?

These will go between engine mount ears and the Lords isolators.

At 0.063 the appropriate AN970 washer should work

I'd use the aluminum. Why not? Unless, you've already got the AN970 washers that Gil mentioned.
