RV-3A Autopilot Install

I'm flying an old-school RV-3A (fuselage-mounted fuel tank, single wing inspection panel per side). Has anyone out there installed a wing-leveler servo at the aileron bellcrank in one of these? If so, do you have pictures/details?

Thanks...Joe

Hi Joe...

...a lot of the -4 and -6 guys with already built airplanes, mount them on the outboard rib and make new pushrod back to the bellcrank because it's tight in the inspection plate area,

Regards,

Joe, a wingtip installation would most likely be the easiest for you provided the wingtip can be easily removed. Here are some notes about the wingtip install in our pal Bob B's RV-6A:

Riveted Tips

The wingtip may be my best option, but I sure hate to drill out all those rivets and install the platenuts and screws.

Take a look at the installation on our RV3B. You can see the pictures on Randy Lervold,s website with a link to our Picasa album. If you would like other pictures please e-mail me and we will send more .jpgs of our installation.
It was very easy and straightforward. The only problem we had was with our Pitch servo and this was diagnosed and solved with help from Tru-Trak.
