I currently have a SV 250 gps mounted under the cowling, i am adding the gps 2020 to be complaint. I would like to keep the current gps 250 for redundancy. Where is the best place to mount the GPS 2020? On the front, in front of the canopy? Or aft of the canopy in the tail section. The installation manual from Dynon says questionable placement under the cowl. thanks for the help.

Unless they changed things you cannot have two GPS sources since Vans used up all the serial ports for the Skyview on the RV-12. GPS works fine under cowl for either version.

I have both Skyview gps pucks mounted on the Vans supplied gps bracket beneath the cowl and have no issues with performance.

If the serial ports are used up you could always put in a single pole double throw switch to select which GPS is providing data. Probably not kosher if you select the old GPS for the ADS-B Out position source.
