Trig radio and transponder tray mounting location

Does anyone have any hints or tips on the best place to mount the main units for the Trig transponder and radio? I'm thinking close to the instrument panel but fixed to the airframe with a service loop to the control head. Happy to get your advice. Thanks!

I mounted mine on the forward side of the sub panel.

Thanks Mel, That's what I'm leaning towards on my 8 as well, perhaps with a small bracket for both transponder and radio. I want to make it easy to access for code updates or any other maintenance.
