Wheel fairing clearance

On the RV-14A Van's has called out 5/8" side clearance min. , but nothing mentioned about forward and aft next to the thread. Mine have 1/4" aft of the tire but only 1/8" in front of the tire. I do not remember what I had on the RV-10, does this seem correct?

I went symmetrical all the way around, about 3/4". Vertical force may balloon the tire sideways, but snow and mud will add up front to back. Tires better than stock may run a scoche larger too....

Ron, that is way too tight forward and aft. Many RV-10's have had issues due to cutting too tight a tolerance there. I'd stick with the same measurement all the way around.

With the smaller RV's, you gain around 10 knots by adding gear leg fairings and 5 with the wheel pants. With do little gain, don't be afraid to open up the opening.
