Basic Med Question

Has anybody taken their required two year quiz for basic med recently?
Was just doing it on AOPA and there is something new, at least as best I can remember from taking it two years ago.

REQUIRED OPT-IN CHECKBOXES:
In accordance with section 2307 of the FAA Extension, Safety and Security Act of 2016 (Public Law 114-190) (FESSA):

I certify that I am under the care and treatment of a physician if I have been diagnosed with any medical condition that may impact my ability to fly.
I certify that I am under the care of a State-licensed medical specialist if I have a clinically diagnosed neurological condition.
I certify that I am under the care of a State-licensed medical specialist if I have a clinically diagnosed mental health condition.

Guessing you have to agree to these and check the boxes to keep flying under Basic Med. The way they are worded gives concern. That’s a big “if” in each statement.

Others thoughts?

I called AOPA on this and pretty much got what RobertD posted for an answer. As I recall, if not answered, you can?t move forward.

Seems redundant. If you are doing the first statement then you are actually doing the next two statements for them since it is none of their business if you are being treated for a neurological condition or mental health condition if it does not effect your ability to fly.

Because of the Boeing 737 max crises Maybe the FAA is a little gun shy and adding another CYA layer. Perhaps in their eyes we are like Boeing and "self certifying." :)

Those questions existed when I took the exam in September of 2017. They seem reasonable to me, considering the degree of self-certification embedded in the Basic Med program.- Otis
