Flap Construction Tips

I'm finishing my flaps and ran across some techniques that made doing it easier than what is in the plans.

I found the AN 4263-3.5 rivets to be too short for taking the skin to the flap spar. -4 rivets worked super well.

When the step has us back rivet the aft two rivets on each rib for the upper flap skin, I found it very easy to use the large round back rivet bar to back rivet without taking the work to the bench. I did it in the cradle just as it was positioned for the other rivets.

Then when the bottom row of rivets are done for riveting the nose and bottom skin to the spar, that long special bucking bar I bought for the elevator worked awesomely. I put some paper and tape on the bottom to not rub off the primer as it bounced around on the spar.

And the swivel flush set allowed the solid rivets next to the flap attach pieces to be driven without much trouble at all; no pulled rivets there.
