RV10 battery

It seems that the Pc925L batteries are loosing some cranking power in 2 years or less. And the price has risen a fair amount in the last 5 years. Has anyone tried a YTX30L-BS just for grins? 72.00 online shipped and they CLAIM 385 cca. Has correct dimensions and posts to be mounted upright vs on it?s side like the 925.
Just curious if anyone has tried it. Might be with risking 72 bucks. It is a sealed AGM battery.

I noticed that the YTX30L-BS is listed as 20lbs vs the 28lbs of PC925L with higher capacity - seems to good to be true!

There is some discussion over here about PC 680 alternatives:

Some are recommending the Powersonic brand. Looks like they have one similar to the PC925:

Not as cheap as the YTX30L-BS, but cheaper than PC925L. Remember that the 925L has the + and - terminals swapped so you may need to change your battery cabling if they cannot be easily swapped.

I would be suspicious of that big of weight reduction for the same capacity. Not a lot of magic in lead acid technology. You will find very comparable weights for the same capacity amongst all quality providers. Either they fudged the capacity or used really thin plates. I learned long ago, that for lead acid technology, weight is directly propotional to quality and longevity.

AH capacity is more relevant that CCA in comparing battery quality. The latter is much easier to fudge at the expense of reliability and quality. Further, our engines don't need a lot of CCA's.

Kinda what I was suspicious of. Posts are correct orientation though. Sounds to good to be true. But the Odyssey?s don?t seem to be holding up to justify the price. I have read other 10 drivers saying same.

I use the powesonic batteries and get good life out of them. Have the 12180 in the 6 and two 12180's in the 10. These are equivilants to the 680.

Big Crank

I've used and recommend the Big Crank line of batteries. The compatible one is the ETX20L. And it's actually made in the US...
