RV-6 landing gear

After raising the plane for new wheel pants installation I noticed some play in the right gear leg. The problem seems to be some wear in the 5/16 hole in the tube on the landing gear that the gear leg fits in. Called Van's, they said it would be ok to enlarge hole to 3/8. I would rather keep the hole as small as possible, but can not find a source for an oversize bolt. Any suggestions?

A similar problem affects the nosegear strut on -A models. The best (in my opinion) solution there might also be applicable here: instead of an oversize bolt, what about a taper pin?

Can understand wanting to keep the smaller dia hole but the load bearing area for the 3/8" is far greater and would probably never be a problem again? A tight reamed hole.
