While at Osh in the Innovation Pavilion, I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Rutler and Jessica Stephens from Aithre, a Tech company that specialise in monitoring your health in flight.
What was of interest to me was their new remote mounted CO Detector with a solid state fuel cell and a 10 year life with no calibration required !
It is a small device that you can use to monitor the CO levels in the cabin on your Dynon /G3x etc or your iPhone with the new app.
Installation is very simple with only 3 wires . You can download the app on your phone or contact Dynon etc for their widget so you can remote monitor the CO levels with your Dynon Alarms etc.
The resulting 3 ppm you can see is after the local flight school taxied paste my hangar in their 182 at the normal student full rich setting !
In climb the highest I have seen is 17 ppm with a quartering tailwind and once in cruise the reading drops to zero.
( I don't fully understand how the tailwind made a difference but climbing into a straight on headwind, the result is less than 5 ppm. )
If you had the app downloaded on your iPhone it records the trends so you can review after the flight.
I am very impressed with the product and have since had 3 of my friends order and install the same on their Dynons.
Jim was great to talk with and his website had prompt ordering and shipping to Australia.
Another great product for our aircraft !
ps: Jim's personal RV-10 is stunning !!!!!
