Upper St. Croix

The weather cleared after dinner and I found an hour that was perfect for a Vlad inspired mission.....

I figured it would be a good time to check the unguarded border for Badgers trying to sneak in from the East to consume tasty Microbrews. Our natural barrier is the St. Croix River and it is almost always a treat near sunset.

Things look clear and colorful under scattered clouds.....

HDR setting makes the same clouds look ominous......

Earlier

Earlier about 2pm I flew in from Atlanta and those clouds were a lot less friendly. Also head winds at 8000 was 50KT. So I went below clouds for a very rough ride and winds at 30KT.

I should have come later in the day

Back when I learned to fly out of KANE in a J-3, that would have been considered a long cross-country Pete.....now it's a thirtyfive minute local flight..... ;)

Nice scenery - pretty day!
