RV-8 Roll Bar Installation

Hello RV-builders,

Our roll bar is not fitting very well... LH is okay, but RH... We tried already to bend it to fit but see below pictures ? that?s the best what we could get RH?

Do you have some pictures of how you installed it or make it fit?
Have you modeled some shims to make the roll bar fit?

Have you tried fitting the bolts and tightening them up? There are a few areas where things do not fit perfectly, but a little force "persuades" them to do so

cleco the caps and bolt down the roll bar - everything will come toghether.

just put the bolts in

and tighten them up.

worked also fine for me!!

I just fear that we hurt the aluminum under structure.
What do you think?
We haven't riveted the middle fuselage section, yet.
I feel like the rivets won't fit when I bolt the roll bar first...
I would like to clarify before I'm drilling the roll bar bolt holes...

Anna, sometimes a slight bit of bending is needed, as steel parts warp during the welding process. For example, the flange in your second photo might fit better if whacked with a big rubber hammer. Do what works. You are not going to break the steel part.
