Rear Spar -- Wing Fit

Having problems with the rear spar to the wing attatchment.
Call out for the rivets are 470 and the wing rear spar is hitting
the rivet head on the fuselage.
It is the 2 rivets right above the spare on the fuselage.

Do I replace the rivet with a flush CHERRY or cut the rear spar on
the wing and make it fit around the 470.

It is a slow build and the plans call for it but I heard of the
problems in this area.

Thanks for the help.

Wings will be on by Saturday.

Bruce, I'm on my phone, otherwise I'd post a pic...I drilled the 470 that was there and put a flush Cherry there.

Thanks Chad,

I will probably do the same.

Finally at the airport.
Good feeling.

Get em flying.

Cut the spar

It is clear on the plans that the rear spar must be modified. Mark per the plans and cut 1/16" extra. This will just clear the rivet and provide more than ample edge difference. I had to do this with both of my 7's and the 5 others I assisted with installing the wings.

This rivet is important so don't drill and replace. You're likely to cause more damage than it is worth. Cutting the spar is quick and easy and again, more than enough edge distance for the drag spar bolt.
