Adding a GPS to my RV-12

Stein Air made a wiring harness for my RV12 with a transfer switch so I could use either my Garmin 496 or my 696 to feed my D180 and auto pilot. It also allows the 696 to be fed thru the avionics switch.

I did the exact same thing and upgraded to a 796. As I recall you will have to put a bigger fuse in the GPS spot. I can't remember off the top of my head, I think a 5 amp fuse. I removed my 496 and keep it to take along on long cross countries as a back up.
