Crosswind landings in RV-12

I have tried several landings in the RV-12 with a crosswind component of
15 to 20 knots. There is plenty of aileron and rudder authority to maintain
runway alignment by slipping. The problem comes after touchdown. Runway alignment can be maintained by light braking on the downwind side.
But the airplane skids sideways, toward the downwind side, a foot or so.
Is there any technique that will prevent this skid?

More aileron into th wind. Pin that upwind tire to the ground!

My suggestion. Don't use flaps for a cross wind landing in a flaperon equipped RV12. With the flaps down obsrve how little down pressure on the upwind tire is afforted by the upwind flaperon with the flaps down. Most of the slip is provided by the upward pressure of the downwind wing with the flaps down.

It is amazing what a capable little bird the -12 is.

I am not flying the 12 yet, but a technique that works for me on most planes is to raise the flaps immediately on touchdown. I hit the switch on my 9A and believe the 12 will be much easier/quicker. I should find out for sure in a few months...
